One of the fastest-growing health care companies in Tampa Bay has a new name, added talent and an expanded product line after buying a former competitor and sometimes partner.
DAS Health — formerly known as Doctors Administrative Solutions — acquired ConXit Technology Group, a Charlotte, North Carolina company that, like DAS, also provides medical practice software, services and support to doctors. Financial terms were not disclosed.
DAS, which remains headquartered in Tampa, essentially doubles revenue and staff with the deal, and now has just under 100 employees, said Alison Talleri, vice president of sales and marketing. The company, No. 38 on Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Fast 50 List, posted $5.17 million in 2014 revenue.
Additionally, DAS picked up two offices — ConXit’s office in Charlotte and a satellite office in Phoenix. DAS now has a national footprint, with operations in 48 states and Puerto Rico and broader solutions. It’s not just serving independent practitioners, but also health care and hospital systems and corporations, Talleri said.
The company will roll out two new digital health care applications: assessURhealth, which assesses mental and behavioral health risks, and DocsINK, a mobile charge capture and HIPAA-secure messaging app.
DAS, founded in 2003 by David Schlaifer, president and CEO, and ConXit, launched in 2006 by Shawn Miller, were competitors, as both were national resellers of Aprima Medical Software. But they also were partners at times, as each company had products the other did not, Talleri said. Miller is staying on as senior vice president of sales for DAS Health.
The ConXit acquisition comes just a few months after last year's purchase of Spectra Healthcare.
