When we heard that a new site in the Warehouse Arts District, the one with the giant Nikola Tesla mural plastered on the exterior, was hosting a media event, we jumped at the chance to take a field trip. What we didn’t know was what GeniusCentral, whose moniker adorns the building, actually was. Was it a co-working space? An art gallery? A startup? Desperate to learn, we headed over to St. Pete to attend the Grand Opening event held yesterday.
The space is an amazing open-concept with tall ceilings, brightly colored walls and an artsy, industrial feel. It features super-cool bleachers fit for seating large groups and hosting presentations. Interesting murals, including the likes of Steve Jobs, cover the walls. There is a very kitschy subway car thingy repurposed as a meeting space, complete with table top bowling set up inside. I took special notice of all of the state of the art offices that line the perimeter of the second story. There is no shortage of awesome comfy seating and meeting spaces. This place is the perfect setup to get those creative juices flowing for collaborative projects.
As it turns out, GeniusCentral is a technology company that focuses on retail solutions. Their suite of products includes BuyingGenius (an Automated ordering solution), Brand Solutions (a supplier marketing program), and ScanGenius (an all-in-one scanner). Led by CEO, John Miles, GeniusCentral is aimed at helping brands market their products and making retailers day-to-day operations run smoothly. Their impressive list of clients include natural food giants Amy’s and Earth’s Best Organic.
It’s also worth mentioning that the new location serves as home to two other companies. Financial data specialists, Intrinio, and campus engagement platform, Check I’m Here, are making great use of the amenities while they await the buildout of their new space next door.
So, with open arms we welcome GeniusCentral to the TampaBay Tech scene. We love meeting new neighbors and really enjoyed checking out the new space. We’re looking forward to watching these guys grow and thrive in our community.
